RUN for ProCit

On Saturday, 1 April, the second annual charity family blue run RUN for ProCit will take place in Pilsen on the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day. The event is organized by the ProCit Civic Association and the Skřivánek language agency. The funds raised go to families caring for a child with autism spectrum disorder .

On the first Saturday of April, the Borský Park in Pilsen will once again host a charity family run in support of children with autism. You can contribute by purchasing a race entry or buying a small gift on race day. The start of the children’s run, which also includes children with autism, is scheduled for 10:00. The 2km run starts at 10:15 and the 5km run at 10:45. For the adventurous runners, there will be an optional blue surprise section of the course (powdered with blue colour).

The aim of the event is to raise awareness of autism and to support friends, parents and children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.  “The number of children with  autism spectrum disorder is increasing, with one in 80 children being born with  it. The number of families whose lives have been changed by this incurable disorder is therefore also growing”, adds Irena Vítovcová of the ProCit Civic Association.

The colour blue is a symbol of communication – one of the three areas that are problematic for people with ASD (autism spectrum disorder) and crucial to mutual understanding. Other problem areas are social behaviour and imagination. There is no typical game that all children with autism enjoy. Interests are usually monotonous, such as reading timetables, fascination with round objects, even manhole covers, but ordinary lego or beads will also suffice. They often lack the ability to interact and are unable to play with other children.

“We like to support projects that make sense and this is one of them. We have been working with ProCit virtually since it was founded. The focus of our support is not only financial assistance, but also education aimed at general public, whose friendliness and understanding are very important for children with autism and their loved ones. We regularly assist ProCit in organizing pre-Christmas benefit concerts of prominent figures from the music industry”, says Andrea Vojáčková, Sales Director of Skřivánek, about the organization of the run.

The event includes a packed accompanying programme. Children will enjoy the bouncy castle or face painting. A special adventure route is ready for adventurers. Lovers of good food and drink can look forward to great coffee, French delicacies, delicious vegetarian soups or runner’s beer and cider from a local microbrewery.
